So a part of me thinks it’s taking a step backwards, but another part of me is thinking oh what the heck. I need to brush my teeth before I start emotional eating.

Hiking and Songs
We touched snow! Unfortunately, the first location we went to was too snowy so we went back to the original plan and hiked Rattlesnake Mountain trail in North Bend. We went to the peak of this mountain: It was a 2.4 mile hike to the top, which wasn’t too bad. We rewarded ourselves with PB & banana sandwiches and sutsumas when we reached the top. It was soooo chilly! Brynn...

Red Robin brings people together
Massive Interlake ‘07 reunion at the downtown Bellevue Red Robin this evening. Let me quickly show you what I ate before I rattle off all the names of everybody. I had the teriyaki chicken burger with lettuce instead of a bun and without cheese and mayo. I also substituted the fries for the cantaloupe since I had fries for lunch already. Alright, here we go: Alex L., Brynn W., Alyssa...

I just want to say that of all the blogs I read, yours is the most consistent to make me jealous. You eat a lot of good food and you’re still in great shape! Plus you’re intelligent and beautiful… why can’t we all be you!? You must be my sister Naomi… But thanks…I’m not good with compliments…So my hope is to continue making you jealous of my food....

I found another restaurant partner in crime!
I am so thankful that so many of my friends love going out to eat. Brandon is a fan of swanky, contemporary restaurants so today his restaurant of choice was Bradley & Mikel’s Pearl Bar & Dining. Amazing choice! They had a great $10 lunch menu. Brandon’s entrée: Chef’s Cioppino (shrimp, shellfish, salmon, whitefish and tuna, garlic-tomato broth, red pepper rouille, olive...

Dad's Choice: Teapot Vegetarian House
Dad chose to go to Teapot Vegetarian House in Redmond. Can you believe it? Although it is called a vegetarian house, the entire menu was vegan. Feast your eyes on some of the best tofu dishes! Dish #1: Jewel Box - Featured in Pacific Northwest Magazine, cashews, almonds and a medly of fresh diced vegetables lightly sautéed and served in a purse of nori and tofu film. A real treasure. Dish...

What is your favorite food product? Oh boy. I have a lot of favorite food products. Light Swiss Laughing Cow is great spread and then melted on sandwiches, especially with avocado slices. I also love Nulaid Reddi-egg (whites) with low-fat three-cheese blend and red peppers. Ask Me More!

New scent for 2010
As part of their Christmas gift, Naomi and Jordan gave me new perfume from Anthropologie. They knew that I was running out of my old stuff and I wanted a new scent. Although I love my old Amorito - a nice blend of chocolate, vanilla and caramel- I am ready to move on to something different. I have a bit left so maybe I’ll bring it out on special occasions. Like Feb. 11 - the day something...

Vegan meal #2
Another success! I took a quick trip to Trader Joe’s to whip up something for my parents since we don’t have very many vegan-friendly items. I made these sandwiches for them and garlic sweet potato fries are on the way! I had one for myself too and I’m completely satisfied and surprisingly very full. Whole grain with flax ciabatta loaf grilled onions roasted garlic...

Vancouver - The engagement collection
My oldest cousin Ryan, 29, is engaged to the lovely Val Wong and are set to be married in early August 2010. Of course, following the Chinese mantra of forever celebrating with food, they hosted a incredible 10 (give or take a few)-course dinner followed by a collection of desserts, including a fancy engagement cake and Aunt Linda’s famous cheesecake, at Ryan’s parents’ house. ...

Vancouver - The BOOMER collection
Boomer is my Aunt Ari’s havanese dog. Annndd I want one. Boomer doesn’t shed, smell or bark. He’s playful and good around large groups of people. Let’s take a minute to reflect on how adorable this dog is. (To my PR/Ad buddies, while looking at these pictures, please refrain from categorizing me in the “PUPPIES!!” group. Thank you.) I think I’m in...

Vegan Breakfast - Dad approved!
Jackie Eaton would be proud of you dad. My parents accepted the one-day vegan challenge. It’s funny to see dad say no to all the yummy holiday cookies that are sitting around the house. So far, so good. The apple cinnamon oatmeal (with tons of brown sugar) will hopefully keep dad satisfied for a while.

Wild Thing
I’m so glad 2009 is coming to an end. I think we’re all ready for a fresh start. Eating healthier. Visiting new places (PERU!). Being less moody… While in Vancouver, I was able to spend a lot of time with my cousins, who are all very different in their own way. I was looking through my pictures and I came across a series of my youngest cousin on my mom’s side - Andrew, age...

Vancouver - the strange and the beautiful
Every trip to Vancouver is like a giant food marathon. We went from venue to venue just inhaling all sorts of different foods. Every meal had an appetizer and a dessert too. But it’s the holidays and I tried my best… but with that said, I will be working my butt off these next couple of weeks to get ready for hiking in Peru. Here are some pictures I took on my camera. I got to play...

Vancouver - Grandma's Peanut Brittle!
The first day in Vancouver, British Columbia, my grandma taught me how to make her famous peanut brittle - the kind that I believe is inserted with crack because it’s so addicting. Oddly enough, the recipe was easy, fast and only used a microwave! Sugar, peanuts and corn syrup…appetizing, right? After adding the butter and corn starch you have to quickly put it on a pan...

Hanging up my oven mits
…for now at least. I made my last batch of reindeer cookies for 2009. I’ve exhausted their cute little noses to the point that I started throwing cookies in the kitchen out of frustration. I highly suggest using chocolate covered pretzels, not buttery ones. The ears just wouldn’t stay on so I started throwing sugar cookies everywhere and my dad looked at me kind of funny....
